This is a model of the Talent 2, which, as a protype, is a multiple unit railcar manufactured by Bombardier Transportation. The train began production in 2008 and first entered service with Deutsche Bahn in 2011.
Despite having the same name as the original Talent, designed by Waggonfabrik Talbot (later acquired by Bombardier), it does not share much at all with that train. The crash-optimized design of the cab ends has led to the units getting the nickname, "Hamsterbacke" (Hamster Cheeks).
The talent model from PIKO exactly captures the prototype and the Baden-Württemberg's new commuter colors make an excellent choice.
The drive's torque is transferred from the motor via a structurally elegant cardan shaft drive to four wheelsets, which ensures the railcar is pleasantly quiet whilst the car is running rapidly.
