COSMETIC CONDITION: New. Railway company: |Epoch: IV |Gauge: H0 |Elect. system: DC Steam locomotive 02 0201 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. ¦ For the first time as an Era IV version in the condition of the 1980s ¦ Reissue of the popular ROCO model ¦ Metal wheels in a filigree version ¦ With only one generator on the smoke chamber ¦ Without an oil riser on the rear of the tender In order to test new passenger coaches, the Halle testing facility needed another high-speed steam locomotive. The new machine 18 201 was created from the high-speed tender locomotive 61 002 and parts of the high-pressure test locomotive H 25 024. A modified new 22 series boiler with an extended smoke chamber and Giesl ejector served as the steam generator. The machine was equipped with a counter pressure brake to keep the speed exactly when driving fast. Fast travel meant up to 175 km / h, because the 18 201 was initially approved for this top speed - later 180 km / h - but only forwards. In 1967 a main oil burner was installed. With the changeover to the new system of computer-compatible company numbers at the DR in 1970, the machine was listed as 02 0201-0. It had already had the status of a traditional locomotive in the GDR era. She often came to special offers as early as the 1980s, either by order of the DMV or - for foreign exchange purposes - for western tour operators. In 1985, for the 150th anniversary of the German railways, the locomotive received an exit permit to the West for the first time. Back then, it was one of the major attractions at the Nuremberg exhibition.
